I am grateful and fortunate to have traveled through many parts of Switzerland, but Bern is one city I have never been to. And nothing gets me excited like a new destination.

I stumbled over a beautiful image of the Bern rooftops on Pinterest one day and got my heart totally captivated therefore I just had to put this city into my next destination list (This is not the first time guys. That’s what Pinterest can do to you and your credit card bills). Bern, the Swiss capital, is often overlooked by tourists as one of many Swiss destinations; they make a huge mistake. The old town of Bern, a winding lane of sepia-hued houses, medieval roofs and majestic stone bridges, is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it’s also traveler’s paradise with friendly people and lots of things to see and do.

For those of you who have followed me abit on this site might know that I’m a sucker for high viewpoints. Bern offers abundance of great photo spots. You can admire the Bern rooftops both from Rosengarten (pictured below) and Barengraben.

The Bern Cathedral is situated in the middle of the old town. Don’t forget to explore the square near the cathedral for another amazing top view.
