Hi love! Some of you might remember a few photos from my Tokyo trip last week on Instagram. I didn’t post a lots of #npmaptokyo photos, not like usual, because this time I only stayed for a mere 3 days. But even though it was a short time, I had so much fun during the whole SK-II trip.
I was invited to Tokyo by SK-II to attend their global Asia event and gathering, also to be properly “introduced” to their most celebrated product, the Facial Treatment Essence (FTE). To tell you the truth, I never tried my hands (or face, in this matter) on any SK-II products at all. I’ve heard about it being the skincare holy grail of women of all age but I always considered to skip the higher end products and opt for other lower end -affordable- skincare brands. My mom, however, is an avid user of SK-II, and her skin is totally flawless for her age. Being familiar with SK-II’s big name already, plus seeing how the products has worked for her, I was so happy and honored when I received the invitation.
Also it’s only on this past year that I just started to look after my skin properly, -totally ignoring my mom’s advice for decades- but that story is long enough for another journal post. Let’s go back to the Tokyo topic.
Upon arrival, we (I and the Indonesian media team: Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Herworld girls) went straight to our hotel to prep up before joining the rest of ASEAN girls for dinner. When I entered the room, there was a surprise waiting for me on the table. It was a gift from none other than Behati Prinsloo, my favorite supermodel and the new spokesperson of the brand. I opened the box and there it was, the clear bottle of magical FTE. Finally, my first SK-II product, and it’s their most loved, best selling one.

The big event was the next morning, and I can’t wait to meet the beautiful supermodel mom and also to find out what the whole fuss about the miracle water (what everyone dubs the FTE as) is about; aside from its being Behati’s beauty secret (no longer a secret), and also many other celebrities’. I bet that all the years of not getting enough sleep, drinking gallons of coffee and never caring for anything more than soap to wash my face had put at least fifty years of age on my face.
