Hi lovely people; hope you had fun reading my last post on Autumn in Japan. Thanks for all the love you sent me on Instagram DM and emails; I will keep writing about more Asian destinations in the future! As some of you might know if you follow my Instagram Stories, the last jumble of trips was pretty exhausting; even for me (I’d like to think that I am a pretty fit human robot, but nah). After Tokyo, I flew directly to Bali where I jumped headfirst to a couple of photoshoots with inhumanely early crew call time to catch the sunrise. To my gratitude, I finally had the time to unwind on the fourth day. To make it even more delicious; I was truly, delightfully pampered for the whole three days at the beautiful Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak, a new gem in the hotel industry in Bali.
Hotel Indigo Bali is a new resort located right in the heart of the bustling Seminyak area but without the beach/city noise. In fact, the hotel is so tranquil that you’ll forget you’re in the middle of Seminyak. The resort is well placed along my favorite beachfronts in the area, the Double Six beach (hands down one of the best sunset viewing spots in Bali).
When I arrived in the hotel, I immediately fell in love with the huge, open space of the lobby lounge. “Unique” is too far of an understatement to describe this space, it’s absolutely, insanely gorgeous. The timber floors, walls and ceilings, hundreds of hanging brass lights and placement of so many mismatched rattan chairs caught my attention. It’s an extraordinary creative design interpretation of traditional Balinese elements. I love how they only use natural materials for the whole interior, it definitely gives the warmth and coziness of this big open space. I had to stop and marvel at every inch of details even after they told me my room was ready.

After leaving the gorgeous lobby to walk to my room, my expectation already soared up and well… my spacious and stylish room definitely didn’t disappoint. Each of Indigo’s 270 resort rooms (and 19 villas… yep, the hotel ground is THAT huge) holds true to their eclectic/natural design principle, giving the impression that you’re staying in your own cozy, elegant bedroom as opposed to a cold, minimalist expensive hotel (which I never have the penchant for.)
Again, I love how much work they put in every little detail -from the spa-inspired bathroom with organic/herbal bath amenities, Balinese infused decors and furnishings, to the cute cracker-tin shaped tea containers on the bar/pantry. My bed and beddings are crazy comfortable, it took me every inch of willpower to wake up in the morning. Man, I already miss those pillows.
Also Ladies, there’s a spacious walk-in closet AND make up mirror WITH LIGHTS. That means you don’t have to crouch in front of the window to apply your make up.
After a very much needed long, uninterrupted good night’s sleep; I woke up to a lovely sunny morning and proceed to the Makase restaurant were a buffet breakfast was served. It was the most adorable buffet presentation I’ve ever seen! Steel framed fridges filled with bottles of fruit juices and bowls of salad, wooden crates brimmed with fresh fruits and table filled with local and continental food. There’s an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs in action, sadly I didn’t take much photos here as I was hungry, obviously.
Tips: The made by order fresh pancakes are sooo fluffy and to die for! Have an extra serving of their homemade strawberry jam on your pancake. My sweet tooth got pampered real bad.
The Makase restaurant is adjacent to Pottery Café, a coffee space adorably decorated with… well, potteries. Beautiful Balinese ceramicwares to be exact. This cosy café offers selections of sandwiches, pastries, desserts and locally sourced teas and aromatic coffees, roasted and blended by their skilled and friendly baristas. It’s a perfect place to spend a slow morning (I’m all about slow mornings when i’m on my vacation. Also slow afternoons, and evenings… and everything), have a delicious brunch, or to just chill with a good book or a good friend.
My favorite place in this whole hotel is definitely the Tree Bar! It definitely got its name from the huge tree growing in the middle of their bar (thou shalt not underestimate a simple idea). If you’re a vegan/vegetarian, this bar/restaurant offers a menu of delicious raw and vegetarian cuisine, as well as a range of fresh salads and BALIXOLOGY cocktail selection.
Here comes the crème de la crème: The traditional Balinese full body massage at the Sava Spa. Okay first, I’ve been to some other spas in the world (because I have lazy bones and I love to be pampered), and this is no doubt hands down the best best best spa experience I’ve ever had. Ever.
The spa ground itself is huge, serene and beautiful, but that’s not the only best thing about it. The 90 minutes session which I had (actually with preparation it’s more like 120 minutes) started with the unique Tibetan singing ritual which was aimed to create and transfer energy. My experienced therapist gently gave me the most relaxing and rejuvenating massage ever, using Balinese traditional oils and herbs. Her technique/pressure is just right on points, totally relieved my stiff muscles and working out knots I have from… living. Also her voice is soft and very calming. The incredible massage had me in and out of sleep so often.
Conclusion: Will I come back to Indigo Hotel again? In a heartbeat. I haven’t mentioned about this during this whole long post but what was particularly memorable during my whole stay was how sweet, helpful and attentive all the staff are; from the ladies at the reception desk, restaurant waitstaffs, baristas (they remembered how I like my coffee already on the second day), the spa therapist… everyone is passionate and committed to ensuring me to enjoy everything that the hotel has to offer. From check-in to check-out, service at Hotel Indigo was impeccable and, more impressively, highly personalized.
